Handmade Pledge

While I strive for 100% Hand Made by Me, you can be guaranteed it will be at least 80% or more by me! I do purchase cabochons and stones from [mainly] members of our local lapidary club, you may find the occasional Swarovski sparkler or cubic zirconia. I do make my own glass and pottery beads or focal points. Marnie

About Me

My photo
Marnie Astley
Lansdowne, Ontario, Canada
I am a silversmith/metalsmith artist based in Eastern Ontario Canada. I create unique contemporary pieces as well as hammered medieval style jewellery, chain maille, small containers and whimsy's forged, pierced, cast and raised out of silver, copper, brass and pewter. I have a keen interest in experimenting with glass and forging iron as well. I am a 'green' jeweller using non-toxic consumables and as much recycled material as possible and I endeavor to make all parts and findings for my pieces by hand. I'm a proud member of the Canadian Metal Arts Guild, Artists In Canada as well as SRAJD - Self Representing Artist Jewellery Designer. I am currently working from my studio at home in the 1000 Islands. Inquire regarding 1 on 1 instruction or renting 'workshop time' in my very well equipped studio!

Why the Silver Strumpet?

Some might wonder why I call my enterprise the Silver Strumpet.

It has to do with an obsession with silver; we silversmiths just can't get enough of it nor find enough ways to manipulate it!

At our shop, the cash is never at risk of being taken; its the silver we have to keep an eye on! ;-D
